Sit down and join me for the Beta Patch 7. With the help of the community the events and conquest mechanics have been tweaked to limit snowballing for attackers. The changes are pretty big, so we'll have to see how they pan out.

Features added

  • Scout attacks are now added to the combat simulator.
  • All incoming attacks on the Empire are now visible for Empire leaders. A defense coordinator role will be added in the future for this and other planned Empire features.

Balance changed

  • The scouting formula has been tuned
  • Kingdoms can no longer have more than 5 Nobles on their Kingdom in total. This hard cap allows 2 Kingdoms to capture a City together, but not a single Kingdom to capture a Town or City alone in a single trip.
  • Science and Culture rewards from supply events are now multiplied by the months passed in the server, to scale better with Kingdom development and stay worthwhile.
  • Conquering a settlement now reduces the level of each building by 1. This also applies to friendly conquest.
  • Conquering a settlement now requires the attacker to have culture for that tier of settlement to lower loyalty. For example, to conquer a Town you now need the culture available to upgrade to a Town.
  • Resources gained from PvE kills are lowered from 40 to 20 per consumption killed.
  • Lowered Mining deposit and Point of interest event durations from 6-12 hours to 3-7 hours.
  • Lowered Incoming native attack event duration from 3-12 hours to 3-7 hours.
  • On failure, now has a 50% chance to turn into a bigger defend event, a 45% chance to turn into an outpost, and 5% chance to disappear.
  • Defensive event scaling of additional army added when transitioning to a next event was reduced.
  • Native outposts spawn their events earlier. The defensive event spawn was moved from stage 3 to stage 1, and Gathering native forces from stage 5 to stage 3.

Improvements made

  • The village queue now resizes better when the contents get too large.
  • The server age in weeks and days is now displayed on the sidebar, making it easier to keep track of its progress.
  • The map borders for other players are now gray by default. They turn red only if the player is in a hostile Empire.
  • The combat simulator now shows total resources instead of a breakdown per resource.
  • Event scouting no longer appears on the empire reports list.
  • Event timers now show shorter intervals. Below 4 hours it'll show half hours and under an hour additional intervals were added (it's now <1 hour, <45/30/20/10 minutes).
  • Reloading the village now requires fewer full reloads, making the gameplay experience smoother.

Bugs squashed

  • The conquering army now shows up as reinforcement for the conquered villages, instead of hiding until you call them back.
  • Traderoutes to a conquered town are now cancelled. They didn't send resources, but did keep going.
  • Entering coordinates in the map manually now correctly updates browser history.
