The 10th patch notes for the Aether Kingdoms beta. It's amazing to see how the game has developed with all your feedback and ideas! A new developer has joined the team, we added capstone researches, a map export and a lot of bug fixes and improvements.

Incoming attacks on the Empire are now shown per target instead of just a big list Incoming attacks on the Empire are now shown per target instead of just a big list

Features added

  • The Empire Incomings page was changed to show a list of targets in the Empire. Clicking on a target opens the full list of incoming attacks on that target.
  • The server now generates a map export every hour, accessible through [server URL]/api/map/mapExport.json. The file contains an export timestamp, so you know when to grab the next one. Go forth and make cool stuff with it!
  • 3 additional studies have been added to the research tree. These studies are in the new tier VIII and are repeatable:
    • Aether Survey: grants 1,000 Aether on completion.
    • Cultural Grants: provides a 5% production discount on culture and science projects.
    • Engineering Studies: provides a 5% production discount on buildings.
  • You can pause ongoing research to continue at a later date. If you have gained or lost values, the new cost is applied on resuming a research. Only your progress is saved.

Balance changed

  • Siege attacks now only do wall and building damage if the attacking army is larger in size (based on consumption, not number of units) than the village population.
  • Research cost scaling based on Kingdom size was reduced slightly.

Improvements made

  • The widget telling you that you can claim a tile now only shows up if you can claim a tile, instead of appearing and disappearing every time you open the village overview.
  • Traderoutes are now ordered by village name.
  • A confirmation warning is now shown when trying to buy army for Aether.
  • Army movements on the Incoming Army page are now shown in the same order they are processed in the engine.
  • The timer interval on the Send Army page now runs on a slower interval, making it more accurate for precise timing.
  • All distances are now rounded to 1 decimal in the engine, equal to how it's shown on the map to players. So 12.2 distance is now always 12.2, and not a value between 12.15 and 12.25.
  • The sidebar statistics widget now shows the difference between your current progress and your progress last week up to that point. It uses the average daily value of last week's performance rather than showing the whole week's worth.
  • Map tiles that are settled are now reverted to the original type when the village is destroyed, rather than always becoming a Woodlands tile. Already settled villages are not affected.

Bugs squashed

  • The no longer functional back button was removed from reports.
  • The Claim tile button on the Map now shows the current village's population if you don't have enough people, instead of an empty value.
  • The Message page now scrolls down on adding a new message to the conversation.
  • Empire messages for tiering up a village are now deleted like other Empire messages.
  • Rounding errors in updating loyalty were fixed, it now updates as intended.
  • The maximum production cost of a queue item was too low, this was increased (for those looking to queue 500 settlers...)
  • The engine has seen multiple improvements to function properly under load. Army movements were processed in incorrect order, causing snipes to fail, clears to land after damaging attacks, and other unintended behaviour. Thanks to all the beta testers who continued fighting while we tested fixes! The engine is a lot more reliable now.
  • You can now build and upgrade a warehouse and food cellar if your population is higher than your food production.
  • Merchants now deliver resources to Monuments in the Empire even if you're not the owner.
  • Merchants are now reset on conquering a village.
  • The Standing Army page now shows the right amount of pages, so you can find your troops again.
  • Traderoutes now account for the reduced consumption of army stationed at an objective. Previously they sent too little food.

Hope to see you in game! Play Aether Kingdoms now!
