Aether Kingdoms is created and maintained by a small indie team. We spend our free time to create the best game we can. We work together to realise a modern take on a classic browser strategy game. And without the pay-to-win of course!

Team members

  • Friso van Dijk - Game Designer. "I've always enjoyed playing strategy MMOs and I played a lot of them. After working on tools for the game Travian a few years, I got the itch to make my own game. I started designing Aether Kingdoms in 2023 and I'm excited to share it with the world."

  • Edsy - Pixel Artist. "I'm exploring pixel art and learning more about it." Note: while very humble, Edsy is responsible for most of the icons you'll find in the game.

  • Jacob Kriss - Programming. “I love and have played strategy games since I was a kid, and now I’m excited to contribute to a game that prioritizes player experience over pay-to-win mechanics, focusing on skill, strategy, and genuine fun.”

We're looking to expand the team. If you're interested in helping out, join the Discord and say hi! (no paid positions) There's room in the following areas:

  • Community management. Help build the Aether Kingdoms community. Alpha 1 was a closed test. As we move forward, growing a healthy community is important for the game's success.
  • Pixel art. A lot of artwork has already been done, but there's always additions and improvements. If you're inspired by what you see, we're open to welcoming another artist.
  • Programming. Aether Kingdoms is built on Vue + Tailwind, Node.js (Express) and MySQL. Looking to flex your javascript skills on a unique project? Reach out on Discord.
  • Copywriting. Help develop the lore, write game texts, update guides and publish news posts.
