Who are we?

Hi, I'm Friso, creator of Aether Kingdoms. The game is operated by me and Moderators who help moderate the game.

Aether Kingdoms is an online game service provided by Friso van Dijk (the business), registered in The Netherlands (KVK 61032379).

Why we use personal data

We use personal data to run the game. Without data, Aether Kingdoms wouldn't work. This begins with your email, username and (securely stored) password to make an account. After that it's the data created when playing the game.

We use your data for 5 purposes:

  1. Playing Aether Kingdoms
  2. Improving Aether Kingdoms
  3. Informing you of new servers and game updates
  4. Providing a fair and fun game environment
  5. Securing Aether Kingdoms

We only process data you provide us or generated from our services.

What personal data we use

When playing Aether Kingdoms, the following categories of personal data can be collected:

  • Account data: everything required to register, log in and manage your Aether Kingdoms account.
  • Game data: data generated when playing the game, such as villages, Empires, reports, etc.
  • Message data: messages sent and received during a game server.
  • Payment information: to allow for payments in exchange for game services or goods.
  • Support information: personal data used to provide support and keep the game in a healthy state.
  • Report and Moderation information: in-game Player reports about malicious behaviour, violations of code of conduct or other issues, and data on the Moderation actions such as type, motivation and duration.
  • Device and connection information: e.g. IP address, User Agent.

How we share personal data

In order for Aether Kingdoms to work we use data processors for hosting the servers, sending emails, etc. These processors work under Friso van Dijk as data controller and process your personal data within the European Union.

Discord notice

Aether Kingdoms manages a Discord server for community building and contact with the development team. Discord is the data controller and using Discord means their terms and services apply. Joining the Aether Kingdoms Discord server is an optional part of community engagement and not required to play the game.

How we store and secure personal data

Aether Kingdoms safeguards your personal data by ensuring the secure transfer, processing and storage of your personal data. Access to your private account data is limited to administrators and yourself.

Cookies and similar techniques

Aether Kingdoms only stores information on your device necessary for the application to work. No tracking cookies, magic pixels or other techniques are used to track your behaviour. For this reason we choose to forego a cookie banner.

Your privacy rights and choices

In accordance to the General Data Protection Regulation you have rights to your personal data. You can exercise your rights as follows:

  • Right to information: Through this privacy policy you're informed about our processing. If you have any further questions, see the contact section below this page.
  • Right of access: You can access your personal data through the Accounts and Game applications.
  • Right to rectification: You can change inaccurate personal data in the Accounts application.
  • Right to erasure: Currently not implemented, but we plan on providing a self-service process in the near future.
